Rockies outfielder Carlos Gonzalez has been on the DL since last Friday because of an inflamed finger on his left hand. Now, comes this from the team:

We don't know a timeline for Cargo's return just yet, but obviously this procedure will help establish one. Needless to say, if this turns out to be an extended absense, then that's bad news for the already spiraling Rockies. 

This season, the 28-year-old Gonzalez is batting .255/.307/.449 in 52 games. For his career, the two-time All-Star owns an OPS+ of 123 across parts of seven major-league seasons. Gonzalez is in the fourth year of a seven-year, $80-milllion contract.
