Rockies planning to keep 41-year-old closer LaTroy Hawkins
They like having the chance to bring him back next year.
The Rockies briefly talked to the Pirates and a couple others about Colorado's 41-year-old closer LaTroy Hawkins, but with the market limited and Colorado interested in picking up Hawkins' option, the Rockies are planning to keep the righty reliever.
Hawkins is liked for his reasonable $2.25M club option but also appreciated for the presence he brings to the young clubhouse. Hawkins has saved 17 of 18 games and is 2-2 with a 3.09 ERA, but he's beloved by the Rockies mostly for his intangibles.
