Rollins vests $11 million option for 2015 on Friday
Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins is officially under contract for the 2015 season after his option vested on Friday.
With his second plate appearance on Friday night, Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins officially triggered his $11 million vesting option for next season. The option vested with his 1,100th plate appearance from 2013-14.
Rollins, 35, went in Friday's game hitting .243/.326/.398 (102 OPS+) with 13 home runs and 19 doubles this season. He's bounced back nicely after putting up a soft .252/.318/.348 (86 OPS+) batting line last season.
The Phillies are reportedly willing to trade just about anyone on their roster, and Rollins has already indicated he would be open to waiving his no-trade clause to join a contender. He could be moved in the offseason if not at the deadline.
