Rangers manager Ron Washington will return to the team following Monday's loss to the Rays in the tiebreaker game, reports Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com.

Washington, 61, was thought to be on the hot seat after back-to-back disappointing finishes for Texas. They blew the AL West title on the final day of the 2012 season (and then lost the wild-card game) before dropping the tiebreaker this year.

In seven years under Washington, the Rangers have gone 611-524 (.538) with two first place finishes and two AL pennants. They've won 90+ games in each of the last four years and 87+ games in each of the last five years.
