Starting pitcher Ross Detwiler will pitch for Team USA in the World Baseball Classic, the Nationals announced Tuesday morning.

Detwiler will join Nationals teammate Gio Gonzalez along with R.A. Dickey, Ryan Vogelsong and Derek Holland in the Team USA rotation.

Detwiler, 26, went 10-8 with a 3.40 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 105 strikeouts in 164 1/3 innings last season. While he is a No. 5 starter, he's probably the best fifth starter in the majors and is a worthy addition to the U.S. team.

The United States will begin pool play on March 8 against Mexico at Chase Field (Phoenix, home of the Diamondbacks) at 9 p.m. ET on MLB Network.
