Roy Halladay leaves Phillies to tend to personal family matter

Phillies ace Roy Halladay has left the team to tend to a "personal family issue," the Phillies announced Thursday.

There's no need for alarm at this time, as several reports stated Halladay left Wednesday night with a small suitcase and in complete health.

Halladay, 34, is coming off an uncharacteristically bad start, so it's possible he was distracted. He was shelled by the Braves, coughing up 12 hits and eight earned runs in 5 1/3 innings in what would eventually be an insane 15-13 loss to the Braves.

Halladay is 3-2 with a 3.40 ERA and 1.11 WHIP in 42 1/3 innings this season. There's no word yet on whether he'll make his next scheduled start, but for now there's no reason to doubt it.
