Royals' Omar Infante struck in face by pitch, concussion feared
Royals second baseman Omar Infante may have a concussion and perhaps a broken jaw after being struck in the face by a Heath Bell pitch.
Here's what happened:
Infante never lost consciousness, and he was able to walk off with some assistance.
As for the extent of his injuries, here's this tweet from Andy McCullough of the Kansas City Star:
Omar Infante received stitches and is undergoing tests to determine if his jaw is broken. The team also fears he suffered a concussion.— Andy McCullough (@McCulloughStar) April 8, 2014
The Royals this past offseason signed Infante to a four-year, $30.25-million contract plus an option for 2018.
Here's hoping this doesn't turn out to be as bad as it looked.
