Royals second baseman Omar Infante had to leave Monday night's game against the Rays in the seventh inning after he was struck in the face by a Heath Bell pitch.

Here's what happened:

Infante never lost consciousness, and he was able to walk off with some assistance.

As for the extent of his injuries, here's this tweet from Andy McCullough of the Kansas City Star:

The Royals this past offseason signed Infante to a four-year, $30.25-million contract plus an option for 2018.

Here's hoping this doesn't turn out to be as bad as it looked.
