Sen. John McCain is perhaps displeased by the NL MVP vote
Senator John McCain of Arizona seems to be a Paul Goldschmidt supporter.
U.S. Senator John McCain of Arizona is of course a pretty notable sports fan, and he's particularly a fan of those teams that hail from the state he represents. As such, the following tweet from the Senator -- in response to Diamondbacks beat writer Nick Piecoro's explanation of why he didn't put Paul Goldschmidt first on his ballot -- would seem to imply some measure of Official Disapproval ...
Andrew McCutchen of the Pirates of course prevailed in the voting, and Goldschmidt was runner-up ahead of third-place finisher Yadier Molina of the Cardinals. Really, though, there was much compression among many of the top candidates, and you could justify a first-place vote for several of them -- Goldschmidt included. I happen to think McCutchen was the correct choice, although it's perilously close.
As for Senator McCain, he would seemingly beg to differ.
