Stat of the night: Tigers pitchers and no-hitters through five innings
The Tigers have done something in each of their last three games that no other team has ever done in even two straight.
BOSTON -- The wonderful folks at Elias passed along a pretty neat stat earlier on Sunday:
Notice he timestamp. That was before the start of ALCS Game 2.
You know, before Max Scherzer took a no-hitter into the sixth inning. One day after five Tigers pitchers combined to take a no-hitter into the ninth of Game 1. Three days after Justin Verlander took a no-hitter into the seventh in ALDS Game 5 against the Athletics.
So, yeah, that stat needs updating now. The Tigers are the first team to hold their opponent hitless through five innings in back-to-back postseason games as well as back-to-back-to-back postseason games. This team ... they've got some good arms, eh?
