Rockies shortstop Trevor Story made some history Friday night.

In the sixth inning of his team's win over the Braves (COL 4, ATL 3), Story swatted his 24th home run of the season, which tied the NL record for rookie shortstops. You can see video of the historic blast right here.

Who did Story tie for the rookie record? The guy he is effectively replacing: Troy Tulowitzki. Tulo hit 24 homers with Colorado back in 2007.

Here's the all-time home run leaderboard for rookie shortstops:

  1. Nomar Garciaparra, 1997 Red Sox - 30
  2. Cal Ripken Jr, 1982 Orioles - 28
  3. Troy Tulowitzki, 2007 Rockies - 24
  4. Trevor Story, 2016 Rockies - 24
  5. Ron Hansen, 1960 Orioles - 22
  6. Bobby Crosby, 2014 Athletics - 22
  7. Carlos Correa, 2015 Astros - 22
  8. Tom Tresh, 1962 Yankees - 20

No other rookie shortstops have ever hit as ever hit as many as 20 home runs in a season. Nomar, Ripken, Crosby, Hansen, and Tresh were all named Rookie of the Year. Tulowitzki finished second in the voting. As good as Story has been, it's tough to see him beating out Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager for the Rookie of the Year award this season.

Yes, Story does benefit from playing his home games in homer-friendly Coors Field, but it's worth noting he's hit 13 homers at home and 11 on the road. That's not a huge split. It's not like the guy has zero power on the road.

Overall, Story is hitting .264/.340/.557 with those 24 home runs on the season. He got another 66 team games remaining to try to catch and pass Garciaparra.
