Friday night, the Brewers are doing something they have not done in 475 games. They're starting a left-handed pitcher.

Brent Suter, who was called up from the minors to replace the injured Junior Guerra, will be Milwaukee's first southpaw starter since Tom Gorzelanny back on August 28, 2013. Almost three full calendar years ago!

From 2014-16, the Indians had the next fewest number of games started by a lefty with 18. The Indians and the Braves are the only team left this season to not use at least one left-handed starting pitcher.

According to Gemma Kaneko of Cut 4, these 474 games without a lefty starter do not even represent the longest streak of its kind. The Dodgers did not use a lefty starter for 681 games at one point from 1992-97. That's incredible.

Suter, 26, is in the big leagues for the first time. He went 6-6 with a 3.50 ERA and 75 strikeouts in 110 2/3 Triple-A innings this season before being called up this week.

The Brewers are in Seattle for an interleague series with the Mariners this weekend.
