Tigers to activate Jhonny Peralta on Friday
Jhonny Peralta's 50-game suspension for his role in the Biogenesis scandal ends soon, and he'll rejoin the Detroit roster.
Jhonny Peralta of the Tigers, who will soon finish serving a 50-game suspension for his role in the Biogenesis scandal, is set to rejoin the Detroit roster. As MLB.com's Jason Beck notes on Twitter, GM Dave Dombrowski has confirmed that Peralta will be activated on Friday.
Presumably, this means Peralta will also be a part of the Tigers' postseason roster. The Tigers are set at Peralta's old position of shortstop, what with the deadline acquisition of Jose Iglesias; however, they recently confirmed plans to transition Peralta to left field, where he could serve as a platoon partner for Andy Dirks.
This season, Peralta, age 31, is batting a productive .305/.361/.461 in 104 games this season. For his career, he owns an OPS+ of 101.
