Tigers will let Danny Worth keep knuckler fresh in side sessions
You'll recall that Tigers infielder Danny Worth recently unveiled a pretty solid knuckleball. We may see more of it in the future.
Most excellent! Related to the thing of beauty you see above is this tweet:
Ausmus said Worth could be used in a blowout again. He said Worth will throw a bullpen every 10-15 days to keep knuckler sharp.— Freep Tigers (@freeptigers) May 23, 2014
Also most excellent!
The Detroit Free Press is quick to note that Tigers manager Brad Ausmus says Worth is not being converted into a reliever. Still, consider this a promising development.
Despite their overall successes this season, the Tigers do not have a strong bullpen, and what staff couldn't use a knuckleballer to chew up some long-relief innings? Just sayin'.
May this slippery slope lead us to: Danny Worth, Pack-Mule Reliever.
