Tim Hudson suffers fractured ankle on gruesome play at first base
Braves right-hander Tim Hudson had to be carted off the field with a fractured right ankle on Wednesday. He'll miss the rest of the season.
Here is video of the play, but you are forewarned; it's rather gruesome:
Hudson, 38, was in obvious pain and stayed down on the field for a few minutes before being carted off. Young had tears in his eyes when he went over to apologize. It was a pretty brutal scene.
In 20 starts coming into Wednesday, Hudson had gone 7-7 with a 4.08 ERA and 1.21 WHIP in 123 2/3 innings. He held the Mets to two runs on four hits in 7 2/3 innings before the injury.
