UPDATE: Ludwick has dislocated shoulder, will have MRI on Tuesday
Reds outfielder Ryan Ludwick was lifted from Monday's Angels-Reds game after apparently injuring himself while sliding into third base.
As you can see, he lands awkwardly on his right shoulder and immediately comes up favoring it. Here's what our own Matt Snyder tweeted upon further review:
yep, just rewound it. Ludwick clearly said "it came out" to both the third-base coach and the athletic trainer RE: his shoulder— Matt Snyder (@MattSnyder27) April 1, 2013
That doesn't sound good. The good news is, should this turn out to be something serious, the Reds have pretty good outfield depth. Of course, Ludwick, who's coming off an impressive 2012 season, would be sorely missed. More to come.
Update: Ludwick has a dislocated right shoulder, the team announced. He will have an MRI on Tuesday to determine the full extent of the damage. Chris Heisey figures to step into left field in Ludwick's stead.
