The Twins open their 2013 season at home against the Tigers on April 1. And throwing out the first pitch in Target Field that day will be new Twins acquisition Vance Worley, the Twins announced on Twitter.

Worley, 25, went 6-9 with a 4.20 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and 107 strikeouts in 133 innings last season for the Phillies. He came to Minnesota by way of a December trade -- along with minor-league pitcher Trevor May -- that sent center fielder Ben Revere to Philadelphia.

Worley has posted a 5.73 ERA this spring in 22 innings pitched. On the bright side, he has shown potential to be a quality big-leaguer before. In 2011, he finished third in NL Rookie of the Year voting when he went 11-3 with a 3.01 ERA and 1.23 WHIP in 131 2/3 innings.

Expect the next three starters in the Twins' rotation to be Kevin Correia, Cole De Vries and Mike Pelfrey.
