VIDEO: Billy Hamilton makes great catch crashing into center field wall
Reds speedster Billy Hamilton made a (temporarily) game-saving catch while crashing into the center field wall on Thursday afternoon.
Reds center fielder Billy Hamilton is known for his world class speed, and speed is a two-way tool. It helps players on offense and it helps them on defense as well. Hamilton used his legs to make this great catch while crashing into the wall on Thursday afternoon:
I'd call it a game-saving catch -- if he misses that ball and it ricochets off the wall, there's a pretty good chance the runner scores from first, no? -- but the Pirates did go on to win the game in extra innings. So maybe it was only a game-extending catch.
Anyway, Hamilton has settled into the leadoff spot quite nicely after an ugly start to the season. He went 1-for-5 in Thursday's game and is now hitting .297/.333/.442 with 18 stolen bases in his last 35 games.
No, Hamilton won't produce like Shin-Soo Choo did a year ago, but he is starting to come around with the bat.
