VIDEO: Bob Uecker's incredible scouting prowess
MLB Network is airing a one-hour special on Bob Uecker Thursday. Here's a funny clip from it, about the time Uecker was hired as a scout.
Thursday brings us a second straight day with no baseball (boo!), so we might as well all watch MLB Network's special on the great Bob Uecker at 7 p.m. ET. It's called Mr. Baseball, Bob Uecker.
Here's an excellent clip from the episode where Uecker and Bud Selig discuss the time Selig hired Uecker to be a scout for the Brewers -- hint: It's didn't go well.
Classic, albeit not surprising coming from one of baseball's greatest all-time personalities.
Here's the MLB Network release on the hour-long special:
Some of the biggest names in baseball and television -- including Hank Aaron, Bob Costas, Dick Ebersol, Tim McCarver, Al Michaels, "Major League" director David Ward and Commissioner Allan H. (Bud) Selig -- come together to share stories about the Milwaukee Brewers' beloved radio broadcaster in Mr. Baseball, Bob Uecker on Thursday, July 17 at 7:00 p.m. ET. Narrated by actor Tom Berenger, the hour-long special looks back on Uecker's brief career as a Major League catcher and his enduring 43-year broadcasting career, including new interviews with Uecker himself and highlights from Major League, his Miller Lite commercials, and his many appearances on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.
In conclusion, let's have Harry Doyle bring us home, along with a bunt from Jake Taylor:
