VIDEO: Brandon Moss takes MLB lead with third grand slam
A's first baseman Brandon Moss hit his third grand slam of the season Thursday. Here it is.
Athletics slugger Brandon Moss is again having an outstanding season and it already earned him his first All-Star berth. Thursday, he took the MLB lead in grand slams for the season, with his third. Here are the moving pictures to prove it:
As I said, Moss now stands alone at the top of the MLB leaderboard in grand slams for the season. The following players have two: Madison Bumgarner (!), Chris Carter, Nelson Cruz, Ike Davis and Devin Mesoraco.
Also, opposing pitchers would be advised to avoid bases loaded situations with Moss. In 10 plate appearances with the bases loaded this season, he's 5-for-9 with 17 RBI, a walk, a hit-by-pitch and zero strikeouts. His line: .556/.636/1.555. Again, that's 17 RBI in nine at-bats.
Of course, it's not like Moss does all his damage with the bases loaded. He has 23 homers and 71 RBI on the season.
He's just one of the many reasons it's a rather familiar feel to see something like "the A's win by eight." As it happens, they actually won Thursday 13-1 over the Astros. They're now 63-38, a full-season pace of 101 wins. It would be the 11th time in franchise history with 100 wins. The club record is 107 (1931).
