In most ballparks, there's a certain part of the evening where it becomes incredibly difficult for an outfielder to pick up a fly ball that is right at him. It happened to Red Sox left fielder Jonny Gomes Tuesday night, but Brock Holt was there for the rescue:

Holt, 26, was drafted and developed as a middle infielder, but this season he's seen time at the corners (23 games at third base, six at first base, six in left field and two in right field). Tuesday night, he made his first career start in center.

After going 2-for-4 with a double, Holt is now hitting .338/.378/.464 this season and seems to have settled into the leadoff spot. He scored two runs in the Red Sox 2-1 win over the Twins.

With the Red Sox having designated Grady Sizemore for assignment and still struggling to get much out of Jackie Bradley Jr., it might behoove them to let Holt settle into center field as well.
