VIDEO: Cardinals earn walk-off win on Marlins' error
The Cardinals climbed to within one game of the Pirates in the NL Central on Saturday afternoon thanks to a silly walk-off error.
We've all seen walk-off hits and I'm sure plenty of you have seen walk-off errors as well. They happen from time to time. I'm just not sure I've ever seen a walk-off error like the one the Cardinals benefited from on Saturday afternoon. Here's the play:
The crazy part is that the error was charged to Giancarlo Stanton in right field. Yeah, he short-hopped the throw, but Logan Morrison has to stop that ball on the infield. Come on now, a big-leaguer has to keep that ball in front of him. Tough scoring there.
Anyway, the win moved St. Louis to just one game back of the Pirates in the NL Central. Pittsburgh lost to the Cubs on Saturday. The Cards and Pirates have the two best records in the league by a significant margin.
