VIDEO: Carlos Gomez robs Joey Votto of home run (again)
One of the best defensive plays last season was Carlos Gomez robbing Joey Votto of a home run. Well, he's done it again.
Reds first baseman Joey Votto is probably getting a bit sick of Brewers center fielder (and fellow All-Star) Carlos Gomez. Gomez robbed Votto of a home run to center in the first inning Thursday night. Here it is:
If that looks familiar, it's because Gomez did something similar to Votto last year in Milwaukee, which rather obviously explains Votto holding up the number two in Gomez's direction.
Last time around, it had to have been much more a punch to the gut, though, because Votto's shot then would have put the Reds in the lead in the ninth inning -- but instead ended the game. Here that one is:
So consider Thursday's theft a mere misdemeanor compared to the felony against Votto last season.
But it is a theft nonetheless. Might we recommend left or right field next time, Joey? I mean, Mark Reynolds is playing right for the Brewers Thursday evening. Anything out that way should be safe.
