VIDEO: Fan OK after jumping off bridge following Pirates' win
What better way to celebrate the Pirates' first playoff win in more than 20 years than by jumping off a bridge and into one of Pittsburgh's three rivers?
The Pirates played (and won!) their first playoff game in more than 20 years on Tuesday night. The sold out crowd at PNC Park was electric during the NL wild-card game, at least when the fans weren't busy serenading Reds right-hander Johnny Cueto with an ironic "Cue-to ... Cue-to" chant.
Following the 6-2 win, a fan decided it would be a good idea to jump off one of the many bridges outside the ballpark -- it appears to be the Roberto Clemente bridge given the proximity of the stadium -- and into the Allegheny River. The YouTube video description says the guy swam to shore and was fine, but ... yeah. Here's the clip:
Don't know what's worse: that someone actually jumped off a bridge into a sure-to-be-cold river in October, or that the person holding the camera didn't use landscape. It's 2013, man.
Oh, and FYI, the Pittsburgh police confirmed Wednesday that jumping off that (or any other) bridge is illegal. "[If] you're caught, you will be arrested," they said.
