VIDEO: Junior Lake crashes into Wrigley Field wall
Cubs center fielder Junior Lake ran into the unforgiving Wrigley Field wall at nearly full speed Thursday.
Cubs center fielder Junior Lake had a rough encounter with the Wrigley Field wall Thursday night -- specifically one of the green doors in the ivy-covered brick wall that is exposed and has no padding or the minimal padding that is the ivy.
Here it is:
Lake would leave the game under his own power (as those who stuck around for the full video can see), but he departed nonetheless. It's hard telling what part of him took the most damage. I have it narrowed down to his head, face, shoulder, wrist, knee and ankle. UPDATE: The Cubs have announced that Lake suffered bruises to his head and left knee. The club also said that he hasn't shown any signs of a concussion.
It was also quite encouraging to see him joking around with teammates after crashing into the wall with such authority.
The Cubs have yet to announce the official reason that Lake left the game.
Lake, 24, is hitting .239/.269/.420 with 10 doubles, nine homers, 25 RBI and seven stolen bases this season.
