Pirates right fielder Marlon Byrd got the Pirates out to an early lead Tuesday night with a huge home run. Watch it here.
Despite having played in the majors for parts of 12 seasons, appearing in 1,250 games with 4,813 plate appearances, Marlon Byrd had never before appeared in a playoff game.
And he didn't waste any time making his mark. In his first career postseason plate appearance, Byrd electrified the already-rocking PNC Park crowd with a home run, putting the Pirates up, 1-0, in the second inning.
