VIDEO: Marlon Byrd swings and misses, bat breaks anyway

This doesn't happen very often. On Sunday afternoon, Phillies outfielder Marlon Byrd managed to break his bat without even making contact with the pitch (or snapping it over his knee):

Either Byrd is incredibly strong and has a lightning quick bat, or that bat already had a pretty big crack in it. I'll pretend it was the former.

Breaking the bat on a swing-and-miss is impressive, but it does not compare to the time Albert Belle snapped his bat on a check swing:

Brute strength at its finest.
