VIDEO: Nolan Ryan vs. Reid Ryan in 1992 Rangers-Longhorns exhibition
One night in Austin in 1992, it was Hall of Fame father versus son.
Nolan Ryan is of course a well regarded Hall of Famer and author of a record seven no-hitters, and son Reid is now a high-placed executive within the Astros organization. Reid was also in his day a pitcher for the University of Texas Longhorns, who are quite often good at baseball.
As it turns out, one night in Austin in 1992, pops took the mound for his Rangers against Reid's Longhorns in an exihibition game of the sport that binds them.
If you've got 56 minutes and nothing better to do -- very likely, on both counts -- then give it a look.
Bonus!: Ceremonial first pitch by the lovely and talented Ruth Ryan ...
Now in honor of these and other Rangers, please do check out our All-Time, Single-Season Rangers team.
