The Kansas City Royals continue to hang in the playoff race as they look to make the postseason for the first time since 1985. And Saturday night, they won in especially dramatic fashion, topping the Tigers, 1-0, in Detroit.

It wasn't just the close score, though. The game ended with a close play at home plate. Here it is:

Credit Alex Gordon with the quick pick up and solid throw to the cut-off man.

Credit Alcides Escobar for the excellent relay throw.

Credit Salvador Perez for the scoop on the short-hop and then getting to Prince Fielder in time with the tag.

Most of all, though, credit the Royals pitching staff.

And the Royals are still right in the thick of the race for a wild-card spot.
