With regard to the Monday evening bestowals of Indians third baseman Lonnie Chisenhall, which came at the expense of the Rangers (CLE 17, TEX 7), know that they were substantial.

Screencaps from our play-by-play log of this particular contest shall be the medium through which we tell Mr. Chisenhall's story.

Here's what he did in the first inning ...

And here's his next time up in the second ...

He comes up again in the fourth inning ...

More "Chis" in the sixth ...

And finally, triumphantly in the eighth ...

Here's that final flourish in action-news video format ...

For those counting, that's five hits in five trips to the plate, three homers, a double, nine RBI and 15 total bases. An honest day's work, that.

Some further perspective:

Chisenhall came into the night batting a highly impressive .365/.413/.538 in 176 plate appearances. After cutting a Monday night swath through Texas, he's now batting .385/.429/.615.

It wasn't so long ago that Chisenhall, now 25, was a well-regarded top-40 prospect. He's shown some pop at the highest level, but the other elements of his offensive game went missing. Until this year, that is. Obviously, Chisenhall isn't this otherworldly, but this season he has cut down on his strikeouts and ramped up his line drive rate. In other words, we may be seeing some genuine skills growth.

If Monday night and indeed all of 2014 are any guide, then Chisenhall is in the midst of realizing his potential.
