VIDEOS: Marcell Ozuna twice throws out tying run at home
Two times in the last two innings, the Mets sent the tying runner home -- and both times, Marlins left fielder Marcell Ozuna threw the tying runner out. The second one was a game-ender.
The Mets entered the eighth inning trailing 3-0. The got one run across before the following play made it 3-2, but also essentially ended the rally.
That's a great throw by Ozuna, sure, but it also seems like a bad send. Ozuna picked up the ball in shallow left and there was only one out. There's very little reason to get the tying run hosed with one out in the eighth.
This one, though, which would end the game, wasn't really a bad send. It was just a ridiculous throw by Ozuna:
I guess you could argue that after having just seen the arm on display there was no reason to test Ozuna, but the throw he uncorked there had to be perfect. It was, and the Marlins won, 3-2.
