VIDEOS: Mike Trout, Miguel Cabrera team up for AL
After Derek Jeter's first-inning double, the AL's two best players teamed up to give their league a 3-0 lead.
MINNEAPOLIS - Angels star Mike Trout and Tigers star Miguel Cabrera have become linked after the past two MVP races, which Cabrera won with Trout finishing as the runner-up each time. Tuesday in the 2014 MLB All-Star Game, they both did what they do best: Helped their team score some runs.
First, Trout followed up Derek Jeter's leadoff double with a triple to right:
After a Robinson Cano strikeout, Cabrera went yard:
Cabrera's shot gave the AL a 3-0 lead, though the NL would trim it to 3-2 in the top of the second.
Cabrera's homer was the first for a Tigers player in an All-Star Game since Lou Whitaker went deep in 1986.
And though we'll never see it happen, it was fun just for one night to dream about a lineup that contains both Trout and Cabrera. That's one of the reasons the All-Star Game is great.
