You remember the Tampa Bay heckler? Way back in the day, when the Rays were still the Devil Rays, there was a season ticket holder who sat behind the plate at Tropicana Field and would heckle the visiting team non-stop. Inning after inning, day after day, season after season. He was persistent, if nothing else.

A couple of hecklers in New York this week didn't have sustained success like the Tampa Bay heckler. Not even close.

First, one fan yelled "Overrated!" at Marlins slugger Giancarlo Stanton a second or two before Stanton hit a towering home run. Check it out (video via @zaccandy45):

Gosh, that's embarrassing. The timing is so perfect too. The guy finished his chant, then bam. Monster dinger. So good. So, so good. Stanton hit four homers in the series against the Mets, by the way.

Then, on Thursday night, Nationals wunderkind Bryce Harper was at the plate when he heard his usual chorus of boos. Aside from Alex Rodriguez, does anyone in baseball get booed as much as Harper? I'm not sure.

Anyway, like Stanton, Harper responded with a long home run. Afterwards he shushed the crowd. To the action footage:

It's tough to see from that angle, but Harper did indeed shush the crowd as he walked back to the dugout. Here's a better angle (GIF via @NatsOnReddit):

Ah yes, that's the good stuff. Harper is going full heel, it seems.

Hey, if you're going to taunt guys like Stanton and Harper, you've got to be prepared to wear it when they go deep. That's part of the deal.
