WATCH: David Ortiz says final goodbye as a player to Red Sox fans through tears

Ortiz is headed to retirement

With Monday's loss against the Indians, the Red Sox were officially eliminated from postseason play. That means, additionally, that David Ortiz's career has come to an end.

Before Ortiz left Fenway Park for the final time as an active player, he made sure to salute the fans who've supported him all these years. Here's the local radio broadcast's audio:

Ortiz was tearing up in the process, which is about what you'd expect. Here is part of his farewell press conference:
