Watch (draftee) Russell Wilson hit 98* with June ceremonial first pitch
Recent Rule 5 draftee and current Seattle Seahawks, you'll recall, has a bit of an arm.
As regular readers of this space will recall, the Rangers recently selected Seahawks QB and former minor-leaguer Russell Wilson in the Rule 5 draft. It so happens that back in June, Wilson flashed his arm strength while heaving the ceremonial first pitch before a Mariners game.
And the people say: 98 em pee aytch! Sure, it's ever so slightly possible that the hometown radar gun was amped up just a bit, but at last check accomplished NFL quarterbacks tend to have powerful arms and all that stuff.
Of note: During Wilson's two seasons as a minor-leaguer in the Rockies' system, he was a second baseman, which is a position not known for arm strength. Wilson, though, seems an exception.
