Yankees place Carlos Beltran on 7-day concussion DL
The Yankees have placed DH Carlos Beltran on the seven-day concussion DL after he took a liner to the face Wednesday.
After getting struck in the face by his own liner, via ricochet, in batting practice Wednesday, Yankees designated hitter Carlos Beltran was placed on the seven-day concussion disabled list Thursday. He suffered a few facial fractures, too.
Knee and elbow injuries have already been a problem for Beltran this season and he is hitting just .216/.271/.401 with nine homers and 28 RBI. The 37-year-old outfielder has actually been relegated to DH since the second week of May. He signed a three-year, $45 million deal with the Yankees this past offseason.
As a corresponding move, the Yankees have recalled Yangeris Solarte from Triple-A. The 26-year-old infielder is hitting .260/.343/.393 with 14 doubles, six homers and 30 RBI in 71 games for the big-league club.
