Your Joe Blanton fact of the day
Nothing sums up Joe Blanton in 2013 -- and the Angels in 2013 -- quite like the following nugget.
That was Joe Blanton's first 1-2-3 inning of the year. It's his sixth start. #BlantonFacts— Brittany Ghiroli (@Britt_Ghiroli) May 3, 2013
To say the least, it's not advisable for a pitcher in any league more serious than rec-league softball to go five-plus starts without setting the opposition down in order. But such is the fate of Joe Blanton and the Angels in 2013. In fact, that was Blanton's first perfect frame since the fourth inning of his start against the Rockies on Sept. 29 of last year.
In matters very much related, Blanton this season has a 5.97 ERA and a record of 0-5. He's allowed a majors-leading 55 hits in 34 2/3 innings of work.
