12 Alexi Casilla, 2B

Orioles manager Buck Showalter was impressed with second baseman Alexi Casilla Monday, according to MASN. 

Casilla received his first start in over a week, and made two impressive plays in the field. "Alexi put on a show at second base. What a game he had. My gosh. He was impressive," Showalter said. Yamaico Navarro has been starting at second recently, but Casilla's strong play could earn him more time. 

Orioles second baseman Alexi Casilla had a nice game on Friday in a 9-6 come-from-behind win over the Twins. Playing against his former team, Casilla went 2 for 3 with a walk. 

Casilla stole two bases and is 4 for 4 in that department this season. He singled twice and added a sacrifice for the Orioles in the win. Casilla is batting .237. 

Manager Buck Showalter has said he'd like to see Casilla get some consistent playing time over the next few days, MASNSports.com reported. 

Orioles second baseman Alexi Casilla told MASNSports that he will bat from left side Friday night against the Twins and right-hander Mike Pelfrey.

Casilla, who is hitting .111 in just nine at-bats against right-handers from the left-hand side, is a natural right-handed hitter but is willing to give it a try from the other side. The 28-year-old is open to hitting from the left side against right-handers, though the club has hinted that he'll hit exclusively from the right side in the future.
