Royals cut three from spring camp: The Kansas City Royals optioned RHPs Henry Barrera and Julio Pimentel (elbow) to Double-A Northwest Arkansas on Tuesday. Also, they reassigned RHP Matt Wright to minor league camp. Pimentel will be out at least six weeks with an elbow injury and possibly the season, if surgery is required. The Royals say Pimentel has a non-displaced bone spur fracture in his pitching elbow. The bone spur is close to the ulnar collateral ligament. Manager Trey Hillman says the 23-year-old is waiting for a second opinion on whether he needs surgery.
