Gallagher sent back to Triple-A: Oakland optioned SP Sean Gallagher and RP Gio Gonzalez to Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday and re-called Edgar Gonzalez and Chris Schroder. Edgar Gonzalez could take Gallagher's spot in the rotation and start Saturday's game against Arizona. Minor league outfielder Javier Herrera was released to make room on the 40-man roster. Oakland plans to try and re-sign Herrera, who will likely undergo season-ending shoulder shortly, to a minor league deal.

Gallagher's lone win this season came in relief back on April 14. He's lost back-to-back decisions now and has allowed 13 hits and 10 runs over his last 7 1/3 innings. It doesn't appear as he is getting it right now and should not be used in Fantasy play until he does once again. This could take some time as the A's have seemingly given up on him for the time being and sent him packing.
