| Lincoln moving back to bullpen : As expected, Pirates reliever Brad Lincoln will be moved back to the bullpen manager Clint Hurdle confirmed to reporters on Tuesday. Lincoln allowed two runs over six innings, while making a spot start for Pittsburgh on Monday. “I’m not getting that far ahead of myself,” Pirates manager Clint Hurdle told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. “I think we need to take things pretty much as they come. This is the best we’ve ever seen him. We’ve got five starters who are pretty competitive right now. He gives us great depth across the board.” (Updated 05/15/2012) |

| This move shouldn't come as much of a surprise as the Pirates had said all along that Lioncoln would be moved back to the bullpen following his start on Monday. However, the right-hander pitched so well in his outing that he might have secured his position as the team's spot starter for immediate future. The right-hander is 3-0 with a 1.33 ERA on the season and has registered 19 strikeouts and seven walks over that stretch. Still, as merely a middle reliever, Lincoln's value should remain in deeper NL-only formats that reward true middle men moving forward. (Updated 05/15/2012). |
