| Ziegler working out the kinks: Arizona reliever Brad Ziegler told MLB.com on Wednesday that his struggles on Tuesday against the San Diego made him get rid of his spring adjustments. He moved to the third-base side of the rubber in an attempt to get a better angle against left-handed batters. "It was a lot tougher adjustment than I thought it was going to be and once I committed to it in spring I wanted to keep working on it," Ziegler said. "I figured there would be times where there would be some rough results with it, but I didn't expect it to be as consistently rough as it was. It was like every outing I was giving up a run." | Ziegler compiled a 6.55 ERA this spring in his first season with the Diamondbacks. Manager Kirk Gibson said Ziegler will continue to get regular work in games, so they can work out the rest of the kinks. He posted a 2.16 ERA with a 3-2 record and 44-to-19 strikeout-to-walk ratio over 58 1/3 innings of work last year with Oakland and Arizona. Fantasy owners should continue to view him as an option in deeper leagues that value true middle men. (Updated 04/11/2012). |
