Teammates cant lift Kershaw: Dodgers starter Clayton Kershaw was a little less sharp than usual on Friday against Houston, and his teammates were unable to pick him up as he picked up his second loss of the season. Kershaw was still solid overall, allowing just two earned runs in the game, on a home run off the bat of Astros outfielder J.D. Martinez. Unfortunately, the defense allowed an unearned run in the first inning and the offense was only able to put up one run, as the Dodgers fell, 3-1. He matched a season-high in walks with three, while allowing five hits, and he also struck out three in the game, however his record fell to 4-2 on the season. (Updated 05/26/2012)

Fantasy Analysis
Kershaw has followed up his Cy Young season with another top-notch campaign, as his ERA actually rose to 1.97 with the game. He has pitched at least seven innings in eight of his 10 starts this season, and has 57 strikeouts compared to 15 walks in 68 2/3 innings. While his strikeout rate is down slightly from last season, he still has almost four times as many of them as free passes. All of that is a long way of saying Kershaw remains one of the top pitchers in all of baseball, despite the occasional loss. His next start is scheduled to take place on Wednesday of Week 9 (May 28-June 3), against the Brewers, the fifth-ranked offense in the National League. He remains a must-start Fantasy option in all formats, regardless of the opponent. (Updated 05/26/2012).
