| Castillo let go by Phillies: The Phillies released 2B Luis Castillo on Wednesday. For Castillo, it was the second time this spring he was released after being let go by the Mets on March 18. Castillo had been in competition with Wilson Valdez to begin the season as the team's starting 2B while Chase Utley deals with a knee injury. (Updated 03/30/2011) |

| Castillo had been playing well lately and had been gaining ground in the competition. Apparently, it wasn't enough. He will likely land with another major-league club, but his chances of being in a situation to contribute to begin the season take a big hit with this news. Eventually, he could be counted on as a viable league-specific format option, but he should remain unowned in the majority of leagues. (Updated 03/30/2011). |
