| Cubs cut nine players from camp: The Cubs cut nine players from their major league camp on Tuesday. SP Mitch Atkins, SP Justin Berg and RP Jeff Stevens were sent to Triple-A Iowa, while RP Marcos Mateo was optioned to Double-A Tennessee. Five non-roster players were reassigned to minor-league camp: SS Luis Rivas, SS Darwin Barney, OF Doug Deeds, OF Jason Dubois and C Welington Castillo. (Updated 03/17/2009) |
