Report: Michael Young chooses family over baseball
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com

Veteran infielder Michael Young is set to retire, sources told FOX Sports. Young has three good offers, including one from the Dodgers, but he wants to spend more time with his family.

The 14-year veteran, who spent most of his career with the Rangers, hit .300 with a .346 on-base percentage, .441 slugging percentage and .787 OPS in 1,970 games. Young was a seven-time All-Star, won the 2005 AL batting title and won an AL Gold Glove as a shortstop in 2008.

Dodgers in pursuit of Michael Young
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com

The Dodgers are continuing to try and convince free-agent infielder Michael Young to put off retirement and re-sign with the team, ESPNLosAngeles.com reports.

Young would fill the team's hole at second base, where a competition is expected to be held in spring training. He hit .279/.335/.395 with eight home runs and 46 RBI in 519 at-bats between his two teams.

Michael Young still contemplating retirement
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com

With spring training only weeks away, veteran infielder Michael Young has a tough decision to make -- continue his MLB career or retire.

"I'm going to take my time and make sure I go over my options, and do what's best for my family," Young said Sunday, per MLB.com. "I've got three sons at home, and obviously they're my top priority. I mean, baseball's in my blood; good competition's in my blood. So I'd love to continue to do that. But at the same time, I want to do what's best for my family, for my boys."

If Young decides to continue his MLB career, it appears he would reconsider signing with the Dodgers and fill the team's need for a utility infielder.

"I haven't been in any big hurry, but at the same time I want to be very respectful to the teams I'm talking with," Young said. "Obviously, I can't say enough about my time with the Dodgers. I've made no secret about the fact that they rank at the top of my list. I loved my time with L.A. Great time with the team, a first-class organization top to bottom; just an unbelievable experience to play for them."

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com

Rangers general manager Jon Daniels said Saturday the team considered bringing back Michael Young to help fill their utility role, but the team will go with an internal option, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Young spent 13 seasons with the Rangers (2000-12) before splitting last season between the Phillies and Dodgers.
