| Mather chips in for Cubs: Chicago third baseman/outfielder Joe Mather had one hit on Saturday and it came in the bottom of the ninth inning. Mather blasted a two-run homer off reliever Zach Stewart, bringing his team within three runs. Unfortunately for the Cubs they wouldn't get any closer as they lost to the White Sox, 7-4. He was 1 for 3 on the day with a walk and his two RBI. (Updated 05/19/2012) |

| Fantasy Analysis |
| Mather is batting .250 on the year with three homers and eight RBI. He gives the Cubs some versatility in the lineup, but he doesn't have a ton of offensive power. Perhaps if he continues to get consistent at-bats for the Cubs, Mather will be able to surprise us and produce at the plate. But for now, he's merely a low-end option in NL-only Fantasy formats.
