Ryan released with $15M left on deal: The Blue Jays activated closer Scott Downs (toe) from the 15-day DL and surprisingly released B.J. Ryan, the richest closer (former closer) in baseball history Wednesday. Reports say the Blue Jays will eat around $15 million remaining on Ryan's contract through next season. Jason Frasor, who struggling in a save Monday, likely returns to a setup role.
