| Chavez tweaking some things: Mariners prospect Johermyn Chavez told MLB.com on Sunday that he tweaked his batting stance during the offseason with the hopes that it will yield results in 2012. He batted .216 with 13 home runs and 50 RBI for Double-A Jackson last season. "You never stop learning in baseball, so I've been working on my hands," Chavez said. "It's a good change. I can feel it already. I feel it can really help be more consistent." (Updated 02/26/2012) |

| Fantasy Analysis |
| Chavez had been trending up for the Mariners over the last few seasons but his offensive struggles a year ago set up back a bit. Still, the 23-year-old has showed some solid power down on the farm and could be ready to help out the big club as early as this season. While he is not expected to make the 25-man roster out of camp, keep an eye on his progress as he could be a midseason call-up. For now though, continue to view Chavez as a long-term prospect in Fantasy. (Updated 02/26/2012). |
