Prospect Hernandez traded to Pirates: The Braves have acquired All-Star center fielder Nate McLouth from the Pittsburgh Pirates for three prospects, a move to beef up Atlanta's offense in hopes of contending in the NL East. Atlanta sent pitcher Charlie Morton, outfielder Gorkys Hernandez, and pitcher Jeff Locke to the Pirates for McLouth.

Hernandez was batting .316 for the Double-A Mississippi Braves with 10 stolen bases and 19 RBI in 212 at bats before being traded. He'll now be a member of the Double-A Altoona Curve for the Pirates. Pittsburgh has Andrew McCutchen to take McLouth's place in center and so that job won't go to Hernandez. Keep him stashed away in long-term keeper leagues.
