Phillies' Daniel Nava: Sitting out Wednesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Nava is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Cardinals.

Nava's path to regular playing time has been made clearer by the Phillies' recent decision to remove Michael Saunders from the 40-man roster, but he'll give way to Cameron Perkins in left field Wednesday following two straight starts. Though Nava upholds an excellent .280/.393/.419 line over 112 plate appearances this season, he's lost a bit of steam from his hot start, going just 2-for-20 with eight strikeouts over his last six contests.

Phillies' Daniel Nava: Will continue to get playing time
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Manager Pete Mackanin said Thursday that he wants to continue giving Nava an opportunity to play, Marc Narducci of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. "I am going to use him as much as I can to try to get as much offense as I can at this point," Mackanin said. "He has done a great job so far for us."

Nava started his fifth straight game Thursday and has seven hits, including a home run, in 22 at-bats over that stretch. He's hit .310 with an .886 OPS and three homers in 84 at-bats overall this season. If he continues to produce it is possible Nava could be moved to a contender next month as he would provide solid outfield depth for a club headed toward the playoffs.

Phillies' Daniel Nava: Three hits Monday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Nava went 3-for-6 with a double and a run scored in Monday's 6-5 loss to the Red Sox.

Nava started in left field for a second straight game Monday and has a chance to carve out some significant playing time while Howie Kendrick covers second base for the injured Cesar Hernandez (oblique). Nava's primary competition for at-bats is Michael Saunders, who has just one hit this month and has struggled for most of the season. Manager Pete Mackanin indicated that Saunders would sit the next three games with the Phillies expected to face three left-handed starters. Nava will likely be in the lineup for all three games.

Phillies' Daniel Nava: Could see increased playing time
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Nava went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Sunday's 6-5 loss to the Cardinals.

Nava got the start in left field with Howie Kendrick shifting to second base in place of the injured Cesar Hernandez (oblique). Manager Pete Mackanin told Jim Salisbury of CSN Philadelphia that he wants to find more playing time for Nava and Hernandez's injury gives him that opportunity. Nava has played sparingly this season, but has hit .313 with a .927 OPS and three home runs.

Phillies' Daniel Nava: Batting second Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Nava will start in left field and bat second Sunday against the Cardinals, Jim Salisbury of CSN Philadelphia reports.

With Howie Kendrick moving over to second base following Cesar Hernandez's (oblique) placement on the disabled list and Aaron Altherr receiving the afternoon off, Nava will check into the lineup for the first time since being activated from the DL earlier this month. Nava has an excellent .306/.436/.452 batting line over 78 plate appearances on the campaign, but with no route to regular playing time, he'll be difficult to rely on in season-long leagues while the Phillies enjoy sound health in the outfield.
